What is AIPM?

The Association of Innovative Pharmaceutical Manufacturers (AIPM) represents innovative pharmaceutical companies operating in Hungary. Together with our 27 member companies, we work every day to ensure that the most advanced, science-based therapies reach Hungarian patients as quickly and broadly as possible. Our aim is also to highlight the health and economic value of innovative medicines and to support the development of a predictable, partnership-based healthcare environment.

We believe that investing in health and innovation is not merely a cost, but a strategic decision that delivers long-term returns, contributing to a healthier, more productive society and a more competitive economy. Timely and equitable access to new medicines, a predictable regulatory framework, and regular, transparent reimbursement processes are all essential conditions that serve both patients’ interests and the country’s long-term development.

AIPM and its member companies generate significant added value for the Hungarian economy. The pharmaceutical industry is one of the country’s key high value-added sectors, contributing substantially to GDP and strengthening Hungary’s innovation performance. The presence of international pharmaceutical companies brings advanced research and development activities, highly skilled jobs, and international collaborations to Hungary.

Clinical trials are also of outstanding importance, and Hungary has traditionally been a strong performer in this field: it ranks among Europe’s leading countries in terms of both the number of trials and the proportion of enrolled patients. These studies not only provide patients with early access to innovative therapies, but also generate significant economic value: they bring approximately HUF 100 billion in investment into the country each year, create jobs for healthcare professionals, and strengthen the domestic research infrastructure. In addition, clinical research integrates Hungary into the global scientific community and enhances its attractiveness for further R&D investments.

AIPM actively represents Hungarian professional perspectives at the European level and brings international best practices to Hungary. As a member of the European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations (EFPIA), we participate in shaping the future of the industry through professional dialogue and collaboration. In Hungary, our goal is to strengthen cooperation between policymakers, the healthcare community, and the industry, and to contribute to a sustainable, transparent, and patient-centered healthcare system.

The AIPM office provides professional support to member companies, coordinates the association’s activities, and actively contributes to the implementation of shared strategic objectives. We believe that through innovation, partnership, and knowledge sharing, we can build a future in Hungary that ensures a healthier, longer, and better quality of life.

AIPM’s vision

Creating a healthcare system that ensures…
...Hungarian people live longer and healthier lives,
...the gap between Hungarian citizens and residents of other European countries in terms of life expectancy and healthy years lived is reduced,
...Hungarian patients have timely access to innovative therapies, and healthcare professionals apply them appropriately.

Our goal is to ensure the right prevention and treatment for the right patient at the right time. Our mission is to communicate and gain recognition among policymakers, organizations, and healthcare professionals shaping the healthcare environment about the vital role innovative medicines play in helping Hungarian people live longer and healthier lives. Additionally, we aim to highlight the significant economic value created by innovative pharmaceutical companies through their activities in Hungary.

Our member companies, in addition to developing innovative medicines, contribute to meeting social needs through collaborations. Our shared goal is to eliminate disparities in healthcare, accelerate patient access to innovative treatments, and enhance the safety of therapies. We work together with various stakeholders in the healthcare sector to develop practical solutions that help achieve these objectives.

Responsibility and transparency

Our member companies not only comply with the inherently strict regulations governing their activities but also set additional requirements for themselves by strengthening self-regulation. They continuously strive to ensure that the activities of innovative pharmaceutical manufacturers remain transparent and ethical at all times.
